A Meaningful Life is a work in progress, a shapeshifting collection of short prose—the kind that dips its cold feet into the warm water of poetry but doesn’t dare say “poem”—and found photos. These images are, at least here, the primal matter—heaven/hell, moon/sun, female/male, body/spirit, day/night, order/ chaos, mind/ matter, good/evil, etc.—of the texts that follow them. A Meaningful Life 2.0 with Primal Matter I-IX is the project’s second incarnation .A different set of photos, almost twice as many texts. The first was published in 2015 by Lumpish Press in North Carolina (from what I know the press’s first and last book), then republished on different paper—newsprint there, regular paper here—by Birutjatio Press in Santiniketan, West Bengal, in English and Bengali, with minor variations and a different set of photographs. The photographs are “as seen,” un-manipulated except for the arbitrary distortion of the colors.

Ein bedeutungsvolles Leben ist ein work in progress, eine sich wandelnde Sammlung von Kurzprosa – jener Art von Texten, die ihre kalten Füße ins warme Wasser der Poesie tauchen, sich aber nicht trauen, „Gedicht“ zu sagen – und gefundener Fotografien. Diese Bilder sind, zumindest hier, die Urmaterie – Himmel/Hölle, Mond/Sonne, Weiblich/Männlich, Körper/Geist, Tag/Nacht, Ordnung/Chaos, Geist/Materie, Gut/Böse usw. – für die Texte, die ihnen folgen. A Meaningful Life 2.0 with Primal Matter I–IX ist die zweite Inkarnation des Projekts: ein anderer Satz Fotografien, fast doppelt so viele Texte. Die erste Version erschien 2015 bei Lumpish Press in North Carolina (soweit bekannt: das erste und letzte Buch dieses Verlags) und wurde dann auf anderem Papier – dort Zeitungspapier, hier normales Papier – neu aufgelegt, von Birutjatio Press in Santiniketan, Westbengalen, in englischer und bengalischer Sprache, mit kleinen Abweichungen und einem anderen Set an Fotografien. Die Bilder sind „wie gesehen“, nicht manipuliert – abgesehen von der willkürlichen Farbverzerrung.
