To the WEF-Switzerland (post festum)

Dear WEF-Switzerland,
Now it’s over. Now it’s behind us. It was even more spectacular, even more appalling than last year: private jets, presidential suites, a security circus—and the Magic Mountain, not barrier-free, as your backdrop.
But the finest moment was the Great Speech by the Great Bully. You’ll be talking about that for a long time.
You all pressed into the room. At least those with elbows ruthless enough. You listened to the lies, the insults, the threats. And then you applauded. You call the motto “A Spirit of Dialogue.” The world saw the spirit of silence.
Not one of you, not a single one, made a sound. No shy boo. No heckle in the face of that exposed madness. Hardly anyone left. And if someone did, it probably wasn’t in protest, but because a toilet break became opportune: the long waiting, the panic of missing raw madness live, pressed on the bladder.
Now you can say: it was historic—I was there.
What you cannot say, you CEOs and Federal Councillors, political influencers and heirs to wealth: back then I raised my voice, I pointed to the madness, I protested.
And worse still: your silence will not soothe that madness. On the contrary, it will fuel it. For madness despises the timid, the opportunists, the cowards.
